Today’s DAR has come a long way from the early Daughters who were
often thought of as wealthy aristocrats who did little more than
host tea parties for those who were fortunate enough to be accepted
into their inner circle.
By contrast, we are hard-working, active American women who share
a passion for patriotism, education, and historical preservation,
bonded with a love of God, home, and country, which is the motto
of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. We
come from all walks of life: a variety of backgrounds and occupations.
Many of us have served or are currently serving in the armed forces.
We are professional women, homemakers, mothers - who have a proven
bloodline to a Patriot ancestor who served or assisted the Patriots
during the American Revolution. For more information on the DAR
or membership eligibility, visit the National Daughters of the
American Revolution public web site.
