DOROTHEA SHORT SCHLOESSER
Sarah Lewis Boone Chapter NSDAR
Dorothea Schloesser passed away Monday, April 30, 2012.
She spent her early life in Massachusetts and during World War II she joined the Waves and was assigned to decode Japanese messages. She married Norman Schloesser, an Air Force bomber pilot, and they later moved to the Kansas City area.
She was a member of the Daughters of the King, the Lewis Boone Chapter of the DAR, WAVES National Unit #9, and the International Seascape Artists. She served as a volunteer at the VA Hospital for 11 years.
She is survived by her five children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in the chapel at Bishop Spencer Place, 4301 Madison Ave., Kansas City, Mo. In lieu of flowers donations to the Disabled American Veterans are suggested.

GLENADINE PEARL HUDSON MAY
Kings Highway Chapter NSDAR
Glenna Dene May, 76, of Morley departed this earth Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 17, 1935, in Corning, Ark., daughter of Chester and Pearl Wampler Hudson. She and Ron Pulliam were married July 17, 1954, in Ann Arbor, Mich. He preceded her in death Jan. 3, 1974. She and her high school sweetheart, Jerry May, were married Jan. 6, 1996, and spent 16 wonderful years together.
Glenna was a member of Morley Baptist Church and the Kingshighway Chapter of National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Sikeston, Mo.
In addition to her husband, loving survivors include a daughter, Dana Pulliam of Tucker, Ga.; a sister, Reva Byrd of Sikeston; two brothers, Conrad Hudson of St. Louis, Dr. Charles Hudson of Arnold, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Vera Pobst and Jerra Hutson; two stepsons, Keith May and Jay May. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Steve Pulliam.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Morley Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Thompson officiating.

ALICE GALLAUDET FROHWEIN DANSER
Mexico Chapter NSDAR
Alice Gallaudet Danser, 96, of Mexico, died unexpectedly on April 10, 2012, at Audrain Medical Center after a short illness. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 28th, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Terry Kukuk officiating. Refreshments and fellowship with the family will follow the service. Pickering Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born Alice Florence Gallaudet on Dec.10, 1915, in Elizabeth, N.J., she married Paul Lawson Frohwein on Oct. 5, 1935. After 47 happy years of marriage Paul died July 27, 1982, after a long illness. She married James Weart Danser on Aug. 18, 1984, in Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, Bryn Mawr, Pa. The couple made their home in Mexico where Jim was employed by A.P. Green.
Her husband, James W. Danser, his son Lee Danser, her parents, Helen Poggi Gallaudet and Ralph Laing Gallaudet, preceded her in death as did her brothers, Edmund Howe Gallaudet., John Richard Gallaudet, and sister Elizabeth Bard Gallaudet.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Nancy Frohwein Espin (Col. Howard E. Espin Jr) of Reno, Nev., and Paula Frohwein Giesa (Wesley Wilcox) of (Las Vegas, Nev.); her son, Peter R. Frohwein (Dee Frohwein) of Aurora, Co., Lisa Danser (Dan Rigazzi) of Kew Gardens, New York, Mark Danser (Beverlee) of Brooklyn, New York; 7 grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Schoonover (Ryan Harper) of Naples, Fla., David C. Schoonover (Heather Gareis Schoonover) of Long Beach, Calif., Kristina Frohwein, Melissa McGrath, and Jon Wiley of Aurora, Co.; and 8 great grandchildren, Hayden, Gabrielle, Cayden Braydon, Kaylee, Lilah, Nathanial, and Dominik; beloved Nieces and nephews, Pam Hennig, William Snyder, James Snyder, John Snyder Laura Salarno, Rick Gallaudet, Mary Ellen Johnson; and many great nieces, nephews and dear friends.
While living in New Jersey, she graduated from Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, N.J., attended Drake College in Elizabeth, and Pace Institute in New York City. She worked for AT&T in New York City, Standard Oil and Jersey Mortgage Co. in Elizabeth. After spending time at home with her family, she joined Fireside Reality, Inc. in Iselin, N.J. as insurance manager and she Founded the The New Jersey State Association of Insurance Women. She was a Middlesex county committee woman. In Pennsylvania she worked in the admissions office of Haverford College and the American Mutual Insurance Co. of Bryn Mawr. She taught Sunday school in Elizabeth, Metuchen, and Pine Brook N.J. and Bryn Mawr, Pa.
In Mexico, Alice was an active member of The First Presbyterian Church, Chaplain of Mexico Chapter DAR, former president of Whatsoever Circle and later a member of Beulah Johnson Circle of King’s Daughters because of a conflict in timing with the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle. She was a former President of King’s Daughters union, Secretary of King’s Daughters Home Board, Chaplain of Chapter IO, P.E.O.; a member of the Audrain County Historical Society, Presser Hall restoration Society and the Mexico YMCA. Her ashes will be interred in East Lawn Memorial park.

JOANN RUTH EMRICH WALKER
Charty Stille Langstaff Chapter NSDAR
Joann’s life adventure began on February 9, 1946 as the first newborn of her mother Ruth E. Simpkins Emrich and Father John W. Emrich both of whom preceded her in passing. She was joined by Rebecca M. Emrich (Battle Creek Michigan), Carole M. Scott (University City, Missouri) and youngest sister Susan E. Emrich (Overland Park, Missouri). Other family members include Aunt Marie Brown (Ladue, Missouri) and Megan D. Cromer daughter of Susan E. Emrich and she resides in University City, Missouri.
Joann received her degree in Education at the University of Missouri St. Louis then went on to teach 2nd and 3rd graders obtaining her lifetime teaching certificate from Missouri. Joann married Dennis A. Walker (son of William R. Walker and Alberta Walker of Chillicothe) on July 10, 1982. The family moved from Missouri, Illinois, North Carolina, Virginia prior to returning to Missouri in 2008. She had one son Blake Emery Walker who was born on August 6, 1986 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and is currently working on his second degree at the University of Missouri Columbia.
Joann was a very active volunteer for numerous charities and organizations. She was leader of the Parent Teacher Association serving leadership positions at three different Virginia schools. She was also very active with the Boy Scouts and was very instrumental in development of young men into obtaining rank of Eagle Scout. She was very proud to have a family member that served two tours of duty in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War and was a member for over 40 years in the Daughters of the American Revolution and belonged to chapters in Missouri and Virginia eventually rising to State Officer in Virginia. Joann currently was a member of the Charity Stille Langstaff DAR Chapter in Fulton Missouri.
Joann was happy and always attentive to others problems. She routinely would adopt all the children in the neighborhood and it seemed that her hospitality was the magnet that filled her home with love and kindness even for strangers. Joann enjoyed quilting, needle point, family as well as a good Mystery Book from time to time.
Joann struggled with CLL Cancer. She won that battle but had a compromised immune system due to the treatments. She struggled to maintain her energy level and in the end she lost the battle to respiratory infections. Joann went to meet the Lord on April 11, 2012. We will all miss her very much!
Funeral services will be performed by Reverend Barry Boulware (from the Trenton Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton) at the Mount Olive Cemetery , Sunday April 15th at 3:00 PM.

LELIA CHRISTOPHER WORMHOUDT
Westport Chapter NSDAR
Lelia Christopher Wormhoudt, aged 83, died peacefully on April 10, 2012 at home in her apartment at Bishop Spencer Place, after a brief struggle with cancer. Lelia was born June 8, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Benjamin Campbell Christopher Jr. and Nelle Hope Anderson.
Lelia always enjoyed athletic pursuits and the outdoors, learning to swim at age 3, and ride horses at age 6. She won an AAU Missouri Valley diving championship, and continued to enjoy swimming and riding most of her life. Lelia graduated from Sunset Hill School, and attended Northwestern University, where she was a Chi Omega.
In 1949, she married Gerrit Henry Wormhoudt, and upon his completion of Northwestern Law School, they moved to Wichita. Mr. Wormhoudt joined the law firm of Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson, and Kitch. In addition to the activities of three children, Lelia volunteered at the Institute of Logopedics, Wesley Hospital, and the Junior League Civil Defense Committee. She was also a Water Safety Instructor with the Red Cross. Lelia owned several American Saddlebread and Pinto horses. She and her children exhibited at a number of shows in the region, including the American Royal. She served on the Board of Directors for the Pinto Horse Association, and was the founder and first manager of their national championship show. After returning to Kansas City, Lelia had a 20- year career in residential real estate with the Paul Hamilton Company. After retiring, she owned a small antique business for 15 years. She was a passionate genealogist and was always excited to find a lost relative or ancestor. Lelia was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri, The Friends of Arrow Rock, Westport Chapter of the D.A.R., and The Nature Conservancy.
Lelia is survived by her sister, Hope and her husband A. Janssen Wooldridge; sons Dirk (Sheldra) Wormhoudt of Mandeville, La and Eric Wormhoudt of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter Julie Wormhoudt of Denver; a niece, and two nephews.

LOIS W. GISH
Captain Henry Whitener Chapter NSDAR
Lois W. Gish, age 95, a lifelong resident of Piedmont, MO, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center, Piedmont, MO. Lois was born May 22, 1916, to the late Lewis Wayland and the late Mattie E. (Ketcham) Wayland, in Piedmont, MO. She was raised in Piedmont, and graduated from Piedmont High School. On August 29, 1934 she was united in marriage to Norman W. Gish.
Lois was of the Methodist faith her entire life. She was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She served as Financial Secretary of the Piedmont United Methodist for many years. She was also a member of the Piedmont United Methodist Women’s Group and held various offices with them. Lois was a funeral director and co-owner of the Gish Funeral Home. She was a past Chapter Regent of the Captain Henry Whitener Chapter 6-008 of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star #347. Lois enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading, cooking, home making, community service and traveling. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A special “Thank You” from Lois’ family to the Nurses and Staff of Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center, for their care and concern since 2003.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman W. Gish, one daughter, Rebecca Garrison, and one brother E. Charles Wayland.
Lois is survived by one daughter, Phoebe (Tony) Hoelker of Brownsville, Texas; and special cousins Judy and Keith Mahal and Wayland Harris of Piedmont, MO; along with four grandchildren, Jeffrey Welker, Tina (Scott) Eck, Aimee (Mark) Garza and Aaron (Karen) Hoelker; eleven great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Chase, Rebecca, Cassie, Andrew, Christian, James, Philip, Elizabeth, Bradley, Jackson.
A visitation was held on Friday, March 16, 2012, it began at 4:00 p.m. for the family, friends and neighbors joined them at 5:00 p.m. at Ruegg Funeral Home Chapel, Piedmont, MO. The funeral service was on Saturday, March 17, 2012, it began at 10:00 a.m. at Ruegg Funeral Home Chapel, Piedmont, MO. Pastor Ed Rhodes and Pastor Jack Ruble officiated the ceremonies. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Welker, Aaron Hoelker, Mark Garza, Philip Garza, and Scott Eck. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Kiser, Jim Ed Bowles, Johnny Carter, Wayland Harris, and Joe Berryman. BETTY LOUISE HALL HERMAN

Betty Louise Herman, 77, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away March 25, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital.
Funeral services for Betty were held at 11:00 am. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W Main St, Blue springs, MO, 816-229-3276. Visitation was at 10:00 am, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Blue Springs, Cemetery.
Contributions in memory of Betty may be made to the Easter Seals Good Will Northern Rockies Region, Billings, Montana.
Betty was born September 7, 1934 in Jackson County, MO to James Marshall and Glendola (Sandridge) Hall. She was united in marriage with Darrow Herman on June 16, 1955 who preceded her in death. She and Darrow spent much of their lives farming. She was a Christian by faith, and a member of UDC, DAR, Magna Carta, Jamestown Society, and 1812.
In addition to her husband, Darrow, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Bill Hall, She is survived by her sons; Stephen Herman and wife Rose of Lee's Summit, MO, and Kurt Herman of Brunswick, MO; daughter, Karla B. Herman of Billings, MT, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Beloved wife of Charles Arthur III; loving mother of Chuck (Denise) Arthur IV; dear sister of Eleanor (Carlton) Perry and Christine (Col. Michael) Archer.
Mary was the past President of the St. Louis Junior Women's Chamber of Commerce and past member of the Board of McDonnell Planetarium.
Services: Visitation Wed., Feb. 29, 1 p.m. until time of Service beginning at 3 p.m. at BOPP Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood. Interment private.

LUCILLE BERTHA POWERS WILSON
Independence Pioneers Chapter NSDAR
Lucille Powers Wilson, age 90, passed away at Warsaw Health and Rehab on January 27, 2012. Lucille was born January 22, 1922 in Staunton, Virginia to Lillian Walton Powers and George Waite Powers. She grew up in McDonald, OH, and graduated from McDonald High School in 1939. She attended Eastern Kentucky State and Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX, majoring in Music and English. She was a very talented musician, playing almost all instruments, but mostly the piano and marimba and most recently the organ. One of the highlights of her college career was playing in the University Cowgirl Band and performing all over the Southwest. In 1942, she was united in what was to become a 54-year marriage to Army Captain Mathew "Bill" Wilson and in 1943 one daughter, Billie Jean, was born. After the war, in 1946, the family settled in Kansas City, Missouri, and Lucille began a very successful 40-year supervisory career with Montgomery Ward. She was one of the earliest women in management for the company and traveled all over the country helping the other MW regions refine their Returned Goods and Customer Service departments. Lucille was a 60-year member of White Avenue Methodist Church where she and Bill taught Billie's Sunday School class and was a 50-year member of the Northeast / East Gate Chapter, OES, serving as Worthy Matron in 1959 and several state offices through 1965. The last 36 years she was very active in the Heart of America Button Club and the Missouri State and National Button Societies. She was a member of Independence Pioneer Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Her parents, three siblings, husband, a niece and three nephews preceded her in death.
Lucille is survived by her daughter Billie and husband Mike Canfield, Warsaw, MO; three step granddaughters Amy Hathaway (Mike), Lenexa, KS, Sarah Canfield, Overland Park, KS and Erin Fletcher (Doug), Overland Park; three step great- granddaughters, Reagan Hathaway, Jayme and Maddy Fletcher; numerous nieces and nephews from all over the country and scores of friends. Many will miss her smiling face and helping hands including her newest "family" at Warsaw Health and Rehab where she resided since September, 2011. A special thank you to these very special caring and compassionate individuals.

ELLISON BRENT LAMBERT

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Ellison Brent Lambert, 58, passed away surrounded by her family on December 13th.
A memorial service celebrating her life was held at 10:30 am Saturday, December 17 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
Known to all of her family and friends as Kelly, she was born on February 11, 1933 to Hal Shurkert Brent and Pauline Ellison Snider Brent, Kelly graduated from The Barstow School, Bradford Junior College and the University of Kansas with a Bachelors of Science in Education Degree. She was a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and received a 50 year pin from the sorority. After graduation she enjoyed teaching for two years at what was then known as The School for the Blind. She married Sanders Ray Lambert, Jr on January 18th, 1958, and they both were looking forward to celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary together. After their marriage they moved to Plainfield, New Jersey and returned to Kansas City after three years. Besides being a wonderful mother Kelly was active in many organizations including the Junior League of Kansas City Missouri, Pembroke Country Day School where she was a past chairman of the Parent Teachers Association, The Barstow School, Kappa Kappa Gamma Association, Jewel Ball, Botar Ball, Friends of Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Kansas City Chapter of Colonial Dames and a past chairman of the Westport Garden Club Kelly cherished her family and friends and her greatest joy was doing things for her sons and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and thoroughly enjoyed sharing old family recipes with friends and relatives. Kelly loved her hour's horseback riding, gardening, doing needlepoint and working on genealogy which resulted in her becoming a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also enjoyed her family pets both past and present which included Ginger, Lady, Holly, and Star.
She is survived by her husband and sons Sanders Lambert III, Jonathan (Kelly) Lambert and Theodore (Cecelia) Lambert of Albuquerque New Mexico and five precious grandchildren, brothers Hal and Ford Brent; several nephews, niece and many friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Children's Center for the Visually Impaired and Children's Mercy Hospital.

Mary Evelyn Wiliams Phllips
Howard County
Mary Evelyn Phillips, of Fayette and formerly of Kansas City, passed away Jan. 15, 2012 at the Fayette Caring Center. She was 90.
She was born June 12, 1921, in Fayette, to the late Cecil Milton and Sue Ann Forbes Williams. She married Morris Phillips on July 16, 1945, at the Fayette First Christian Church. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1999.
Mary was employed for many years as a cafeteria manager at Bryant Elementary School in Kansas City, Mo. She was a long-time member of the Fayette First Christian Church and also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, P.E.O., and Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil Phillips and wife, Carol of Atlanta, Ga. and Edward Phillips and wife, Pat of Fayette; three sisters, Cecile Young and husband, Ben; Juanita Simpson; Susie McNabb and husband, Verlin and sister-in-law, Helen Wright and husband, Richard. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Megan, Chesley, Lydia and Rachel and three great-grandchildren, Luke, Henry and Caroline.
In addition to her parents and husband, a sister, Jimmie Ann Yaeger preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Fayette First Christian Church with Rev. Paula Ritchie officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church until time of service.
Burial will be at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.
