National Society Daughters of the American Revolution

The DAR, founded in 1890, and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.

As one of the most inclusive genealogical societies in the country, DAR has 170,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the United States and internationally.  Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership.

Chapter History

Mrs. Wardie Jones Ebert of Jonesburg, Missouri, organized the Hardin Camp Chapter on October 31, 1910.  There were twelve charter members, all descendants of Hardin Camp.  The charter members were: Mrs. Wardie Jones Ebert, Organizing Regent, Mrs. Nina Inez Carr, Mrs. Nina Camp Claire, Miss Anna Theresa Devault, Mrs. Maude E. Jones, Mrs. Kate Camp Lewis, Mrs. Mabel Jones Magness, Mrs. Juliet Devault Pfaff, Mrs. Blanche Jones Purl, Mrs. Emma Dyer Strong, Mrs. Anna Jones Wilson, and Mrs. Edna Jones Zell.

 

The Hardin Camp Chapter has a long history of providing flags to the Kindergarten students in many elementary schools in Warren and Montgomery Counties.  This project brings joy to both the chapter members and their young friends.

 

In 2010, the Chapter will be celebrating their 100th anniversary.  Plans are underway to raise funds to create a permanent memorial to commemorate this event.

Chapter Meetings

Meetings are held the second Saturday of the month, September through June except for January, at various locations in Montgomery and Warren Counties.  For more information about specific meetings locations,  please contact Victoria Gordon, Chapter Treasurer.
