Pat Holmes from The State Historical Society of Missouri, Columbia, gave a presentation on the materials available at this library. It is an extensive collection of books, census microfilm, newspapers, etc. There is in-house availability of Heritage Quest and Ancestry.com. Visit them on the web at: |

Dr. Maryellen McVicker, executive director of Friends of Historic Boonville, spoke on cemeteries as a source for finding ancestors. To read her paper on the subject, go to the web:

Leona Butler, registrar for the Hannah Cole Chapter of the DAR spoke on documenting your ancestry in order to join the DAR or one of the other Linage Organizations. There were presentations from 10 of these organizations. |

Joanie Sorrels, curator of Roslyn Heights, State
Headquarters for the DAR, and Tim Dollens, librarian at Fulton, with
the Daniel Boone Regional System, gave information on using local services
and sources. An audience of about 40 people listened and took notes.
Leola Ripperger was there to tell about the newspaper, microfilm, family
histories, burial records,census, slave rolls, etc. available at the
Cooper County Historical Society Research Center in Pilot Grove |

A box lunch and visiting was followed by individual help from the different organizations. Tim Dollens supervised time on the computers searching Heritage Quest and Ancestry.Com.
This was an interesting and informative workshop. There are plans to make this an annual event.
