Although the Congress did not convene until July 7, many daughters
arrived early for the Sunday night reception and spectacular fireworks
display from the 12th floor balcony of the J. W. Marriott, located
at 1331 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Missouri Bluebirds leaders, Pat Horton, and Glenda Allen, filled
in the "free days" with tours to Valley Forge, Philadelphia,
Baltimore, and a fabulous NIGHT bus tour of Washington, D.C.'s famous
buildings and monuments. They were also guests of Missouri's
own Congressman,Ike Skelton, (D-MO) who arranged a private tour
for the group of our nation's Capitol.
Days during Continental Congress were filled with business sessions, committee reports, awards and other recognition.
The foyers and halls were buzzing with activities as Daughters representing all 50 states, Mexico, United Kingdom, France, and the Units Overseas: Australia, The Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain, hurried to committee meetings, "All American Choir" Rehearsals, and business sessions; they toured the DAR Museum, and perused the extraordinary resources found in the DAR Library.

Dynamic speakers, outstanding award recipients, wonderful entertainment,
and special music paid a special tribute in honor of our World War
II heroes and heroines. Evening sessions began with outstanding music
furnished by various branches of the military, provided by The Department
of Defense, beginning with The United States Marine Corps (President's
own) ceremonial band on Opening Night, Wednesday, July 7. Keynote
speakers included Let. Gen. Thomas G. McInerney, USAF (Ret), Maj.
Gen. Paul E. Valley, USA (Ret), Capt. Kim Campbell, USAF, and award-winning
author/screenwriter/director, Randall Wallace.
The 113th Annual Continental Congress adjourned on Sunday, July 11,
following a lovely remembrance memorial service for our deceased
daughters (June 16, 2003-June 15, 2004), the formal installation
of State Regents, confirmation of State Vice Regents, national officers,
and the new national spokesman for our society, Presley M. Wagoner,
President General.
