Mexico-Missouri Chapter's 100th Anniversary Celebration has been one of the chapter highlights. The Mexico-Missouri Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met May 1, 2007 at the Audrain County Historical Museum for a noon luncheon to celebrate the chapter's centennial birthday.

Helen Maupin, chairwoman of the 100th anniversary planning committee welcomed members and guests and introduced Sally Bueno, Missouri State Society DAR State Regent. Sallie Ruth Ekern then introduced from the Hardin Camp Chapter, Regent Arlene Slovensky and Wilma Maroney, and from the Susanna Randolph Chapter, Regent Virginia Showalter and Ann Carter.

Helen Jenkins led in the singing of the National Anthem. Chaplain Alice Danser led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, and gave the invocation.

Carolyn Hobbs, wife of Rep. Steve Hobbs, read a proclamation congratulating the chapter on its 100th anniversary.

The meeting recessed for lunch and resumed at 1 p.m. Regent Ekern honored the charter members of the chapter, then the living past regents, Helen Jenkins, Harrietta Randolph, Helen Maupin, Pauline Harshbarger, Ann Merideth, Mildred Safford, Jean Lee Lamb, and Sallie Ruth Ekern. Fifty-year chapter members were also recognized. They are Helen Maupin, Pat Covington, Ann Merideth, and Sallie Ruth Ekern. Ekern also acknowledge chapter members who had served as state officers through the years.

Ekern introduced Sally Bueno, MSSDAR State Regent, who presented an interesting program entitled "What Makes Us Tick" using a variety of clocks to emphasize her remarks. She presented each member and guest with a small clay pot and "thyme" seed to further her point.

Ashley Jesse, recipient of the American History award was introduced by Maupin. Ashley introduced her mother, Dolly Jesse. Maupin then introduced Clint Turek, recipient of the Good Citizen Award, and he introduced his mother, Kimberly Paige. Both students spoke of their future goals and expressed appreciation for their awards.

Ekern thanked the committee for refreshments served to the members and guests upon adjournment. Committee members were Maupin, Ekern, Mary Helen Diehl and Fuemmeler. Fuemmeler and Lam served the cake and punch.
