The Audrain County Museum, Missouri Military Academy Main Building, Newly Restored Presser Hall Theater, and the A.P. Green Headquarters are historic landmarks in our town.

To perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence; to promote the development of an enlightened public opinion; and to foster patriotic citizenship--these are the objects of our society, Daughters of the American Revolution.

The Mexico-Missouri Chapter NSDAR was organized on April 7, 1906, and is proud to have celebrated its 100th anniversary. The chapter was named in honor of our town and its rich heritage. Mexico was laid out as "New Mexico" in 1836 and was a major stop for settlers heading to the Republic of Texas, thus the name New Mexico. The word "New" was dropped after the Spanish-American War in 1837 which saw Texas become part of the United States. Mexico was incorporated as a town in 1855 and first chartered as a city in 1874.


Our meetings are held on the first Monday of October, December, March, and May at 1:30 p.m. Each regular meeting includes devotions, patriotic exercises, the President General?s message, a National Defense report, Constitution Week report, History Moment, the Indian Moment, and a program of patriotic, educational, or historical interest.

If you are interested in joining DAR and would like to attend one of our meetings please contact us. Visitors are welcome. We will be happy to assist you in proving your lineage to your Revolutionary War patriot.
