Marguerite Suzanne Reilhe McNair was the wife of the first Governor of Missouri.  She was born in St Louis, Mo., 29 Jan 1787, and died there on 17 Jun 1863.  She was universally esteemed and beloved for her affability and charitableness.  The first female Charitable Society of St. Louis was organized at her home in the early part of 1824.

The chapter was formed 9 Oct 1969, with 13 members.  We now have 76 members.

We actively support our veterans by volunteering at the Veterans Hospital, and supplying care packages consisting of shampoo, hand soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste, deodorant, and razors.  Also, four members go quarterly and take a survey of the patients concerning the veterans meals to see if they are satisfied with their food.  In addition, we give a cash gift to a young volunteer working at the hospital to help her further her medical career.

The chapter has one major fundraising project each year that allows members an opportunity to fellowship with each other, and have a great time while providing funds to support Indian schools across the country, offer scholarship awards to area students, and other educational and patriotic endeavors.

If you have an interest in genealogy, education, historical preservation, and national patriotism, perhaps you desire to know more about the Daughters of the American Revolution. If you live in the greater Kansas City area, the Marguerite McNair daughters invite you to visit a chapter meeting and learn what DAR is doing in the Kansas City - Raytown area.

Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm, and generally include a brief business meeting and an interesting program.  Guests are welcome.

For more information, please contact our Chapter Registrar, Shirley McCann.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Also, please visit the Missouri State Society Daughters of the American Revolution for further information about DAR in Missouri.
