Chapter Accomplishments

The Noah Coleman Chapter NSDAR marked the grave of Martha Gray Jones Williams, the daughter of Gray Jones, who was in the Revolutionary War.  The grave was marked on April 19, 1991.  It is located in the Old Rolla Cemetery.

Died:  December 14, 1890, at her son-in-law's home (W.E. Weber)

Married:  October 26, 1826
Children:  Nine total -- Seven surviving at time of death.  One daughter died in infancy and Mary F. Coleman died February 28, 1887.  No other children were listed.
Other information:  She was 83 years, 9 months, and 13 days old.  She suffered two months from a complication of diseases brought on by old age.  She joined the Methodist Episcopal Church at the Hopkins Camp Ground in 1827.  Funeral services were held Monday, December 15, 1890, by Rev. William Johnson.  She was laid to rest by the side of her husband and daughter in the Rolla Cemetery.

Born:  January 3, 1807, in Cumberland County, Virginia
Died:  August 26, 1887
Wife:  Martha G. Jones (died 1890) (married October 26, 1826)
Children:  Nine total -- Seven surviving at time of death.  Four boys and three girls, none named in obit.
Other information:  He had been ailing a few days.  He took sick August 22 with dysentery.  On Thursday he was stricken with paralysis and unconsciousness.  He was a Mason and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.  He was 80 years, 7 months, and 23 days old.  For the greater part of his life he lived in Bedford County, Virginia.  After the war he moved to Phelps County, MO.  Funeral services were held Saturday, August 27, 1887, at the Rolla Cemetery.

Born:  August 6, 1835, in Bedford County, Virginia (This date is not in the obit.)
Died:  February 28, 1887, at her home
Parents:  Col. & Mrs. E. D. Williams
Husband:  John Rogers (died 1873)
Children:  Sarah Rogers McRae (Woods) (died 1936)
Husband:  Rev. N. Coleman (deceased at time of her death)
Other information:  She died from a lingering illness.  She was 52 years, 6 months, and 22 days old.  In 1866 she came to Rolla with her first husband.  She was a member of the Baptist Church.  She had several brothers and sisters.  Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 2, 1887 at the Baptist Church by Rev. J. A. Annin.
