Sponsors the American History Essay Contest open to students in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8.  Hundreds of Missouri students participate each year.

DAR SchoolLou Vogt

Schools in depressed areas in various states are supported with labels, donation of needed items, and money.

DAR ScholarshipLou Vogt

Scholarships are provided each year to deserving high school students.  The scholarships provided by the State Society are awarded at our State Conference.

DAR Good Citizens:  Geni Westling

Promotes dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism among high school seniors.  Awards are given by the chapters and state each year.

Genealogical RecordsLinda Mondy

Missouri has led all other states in the preservation of unpublished source records for over 29 years.  These records are donated to both the state and national DAR libraries.

American Heritage & Conservation:  Betty Eyberg

Emphasis placed on conserving, recycling, reforestation, and community beautification.

Committees Promoting Patriotism

Constitution Week & Commemorative EventsIma Jean Feeler

DAR was responsible for the designation of a week in September as Constitution Week to emphasize, defend, and preserve the Constitution.  We promote the observance by issuing proclamations, news articles, TV, and public service announcements.  Many chapters also donate Consitution Week bookmarks to the eighth grade students at local schools.

DAR Service for VeteransAnna Pennington

DAR members give hours, gifts, parties, programs, books, cash, stamps, and mileage in support of our veterans who are hospitalized.

Americanism and DAR Manual for Citizenship:  Ruth Rakop

Medals are awarded to elementary through high school students.

National Defense CommitteeAnna Pennington

Medals are presented to outstanding high school and college ROTC cadets.  Patriotic material is made available for students.
