Chapter Activities

Members prepare materials for Iraq troops.Chapter members, shown at left, meet to make "Cool Ties" to send to US troops in Iraq. Last year, the chapter prepared and mailed 125 ties, and the chapter has completed 160 ties this year.
Soper AwardBeverly Griffith, Regent of Platte Purchase Chapter, presented the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) Historic Preservation Medal and Certificate to Betty Soper (left) at the chapter's Christmas luncheon meeting on December 13, 2004, at Tiffany Greens Clubhouse.

Ms. Soper was honored for her efforts in the historical preservation of the Frederick Krause mansion which became the Ben Ferrel Museum and in the promotion of education on the community level as it pertains to historic preservation.

The Ben Ferrel Museum is owned jointly by the Platte Purchase DAR and the Platte County Historical Society and is located at Third and Oak Street in Platte City. For more information on the Ben Ferrel Museum, please click this link.

Former Chapter Regent Ginny Pettett, Capt. William Clark (aka Dr. William Worley), and Bob Griffith, Joseph Morgan SAR Chapter President. Platte Purchase Chapter members attended a luncheon and tree trimming party at Roslyn Heights, the Missouri State Society headquarters, in Boonville, in November 2003.
Taloff Award Taulbee
Regent Beverly Griffith presents Rev. Joe Taloff the NSDAR Community Service Award and pin for his volunteer work as chaplain with the Platte County Sheriff's Department, and for organizing the Weston, Missouri, Ministerial Alliance. Laveren Taulbee, right, receives the NSDAR Community Service Award and pin from Chapter Regent Beverly Griffith. Mrs. Taulbee was honored for her tireless volunteer work on the upcoming Platte County History book, and for serving as the official Platte County Archivist.
