Welcome to the Rachel Donelson Chapter, Springfield, Missouri
Daughters of the American Revolution
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer service organization with a mission to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. We are proud to be celebrating over 125 years of service to America.
The Rachel Donelson Chapter NSDAR was organized June 21, 1910. The Springfield area chapter was named the Rachel Donelson Chapter after the wife of John Donelson, a Colonel in the Revolutionary War and a member of the House of Burgesses. Rachel Stockley Donelson was also the mother of Rachel Donelson Robards Jackson, wife of President Andrew Jackson.
"The beginning of the United States, a new nation, started with the Revolutionary War. It is a nation founded on democracy and the idea that all men (everyone) are created equal. The Daughters of the American Revolution is a patriotic, genealogy organization. The members have researched their roots or heritage: sometimes discovering amazing stories about their Revolutionary ancestor. While history books give us a large picture of events lumping individuals into groups, we are able to develop personal individual stories. We strive to keep alive this history, while we work to maintain the spirit of our forefathers." - Doris Jones, Regent, Rachel Donelson Chapter 2016
Chapter meetings are generally held on the fourth Tuesday of the month. For more information, please contact us.
