Springfield is known as the Queen City of the Ozarks. Located in southwest Missouri, we are on the edge of the Ozark Mountains. Travel south to enjoy the beautiful hills filled with oak, dogwood, and redbud trees.
Our 19th century City Hall is one of the Historic Sites of the community. It is beautifully decorated with white lights during the holiday season.
Wilson's Creek Battlefield, an important Civil War site, is located about 12 miles southwest of town. Full battle reenactments are held there periodically, the most recent held in August 2008.
We are proud of our commitment to education. There are several colleges and universities in the community, ranging from technical schools to university graduate programs.
The DAR Insignia is the
property of, and is copyrighted by, the National Society of the
Daughters of the American Revolution.
